What is MixterPlus?

MixterPlus is a collaborative music platform created by members of the ccMixter community -- with even more ways to create together.

At MixterPlus, artists share music in the same way they do at ccMixter -- by uploading pells, samples and collaborative remixes that are reviewed and featured by other members of the community. In addition, writers and visual artists are also part of our MixterPlus community.

Poetry, prose, and song lyrics can be uploaded to the MixterPlus Lyric Library and drawings, paintings, graphic art, and AI images can be uploaded to the MixterPlus Image Library. Writings may get recorded by our recording artists and images may become song thumbnails and album or book covers. We’re also building a video library for combining music with moving images.

And there’s more -- music created for MixterPlus events travels to art shows and conferences, is curated for album and book releases, and select tracks are featured with music videos on the MixterPlus YouTube channel.

What are the MixterPlus Licenses?

Each upload at MixterPlus is shared under FLC -- Free License for Creators. This means artists within the community, as well as content creators, can use MixterPlus music, art and lyrics freely on MixterPlus, YouTube and other social media platforms.

Please Attribute your sources in your descriptions and titles where possible -- attribution is also handled automatically by Content ID systems, making giving credit easier for content creators and enabling royalties to be earned by MixterPlus artists. Note: there’s no penalty or restriction with MixterPlus Content ID claims on YouTube -- the claim simply identifies the MixterPlus track and its artists. Content ID claims help prevent false copyright claims that mistakenly lock down our music.

For use of MixterPlus music beyond social media and for commercial projects, it's easy to purchase an EPL, Extended Paid License.

Just like ccMixter, copyright is automatically applied to each upload. Individual artists own their own copyrights and group copyright applies for collaborative projects.

For Musicians and Producers

Why MixterPlus? MixterPlus is a collaborative music platform created by members of the ccMixter community -- with even more ways to create together.

How do I join? Email admins for your invite token.

Is it free? Yes! MixterPlus is free for musicians, writers and artists to join and collaborate.

How does MixterPlus differ from ccMixter? At MixterPlus, we create together for specific events and projects. We also collaborate through lyric and image libraries. We share our music in unique ways -- curations for art galleries, releases on streaming platforms, videos on our YouTube channel, and more. MixterPlus enables free sharing through its FCL license; ccMixter uses CC licenses.

What about AI? Because we’re a community focused on a human, creative experience, AI-generated music content is NOT welcome at MixterPlus (compositions, vocals, instrumentation, lyrics, etc. ) AI assistance plug-ins are ok —for mastering, mixing, EQ, etc.

AI images are ok -- as long as you attribute the software used to generate them. In the MixterVerse, while we think AI art is fascinating, we highly encourage human creativity in the form of original art and photography.

What file types should be uploaded? Please upload a 192k MP3 as a preview and high quality FLAC files for pells, stems, and remixes. For images, ……?????

Are there any restrictions? Yes. MixterPlus remixes must use only MixterPlus source material (cannot include ccMixter, public domain, pre-generated samples, or Creative Commons content). Additionally, to avoid conflicts, uploads to MixterPlus cannot be claimed by member artists in Content ID or licensed on other platforms. MixterPlus will share all royalties with artists through a 50/50 split, divided equally between all artists in the remix tree (just like ccPlus).

What are the goals of MixerPlus? Collaborate as a community. Create inspiring music. Develop our craft together and individually. Ensure Attribution follows where our music goes. Give artists more opportunities for their music.

For Content Creators and Listeners

Is it free? The music in the MixterPlus library is free for content creators to use on social media platforms because Content ID helps automate Attribution. For other uses (podcasts, games, apps, album releases, etc) we offer Extended Paid Licenses at $49 for independent producers and $449 for corporations.

Why use MixterPlus music? It’s free to use and enhances the human, creative artistry of your project. Collaboration between creators connects artists around the globe and expands a creative renaissance.

• Livestreaming: Twitch, YouTube

• Music Releases: MixterPlus members only (revenue under $100k)

Extended Paid Licenses

Independent: $49 (for project budgets not exceeding $100k)

• Podcasts: self-hosted or distributed on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc. for fewer than 500k subscribers

• Music releases: albums & singles distributed on Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, etc. (for fewer than xxxx)

• Indie Film/video: Vimeo, Youtube, etc.

• Indie Apps/Games: For projects with fewer than 1 million downloads.

• Theatrical/Live Performance: for audiences less than xxxx

Enterprise: $449 (for project budgets over $100k)

• Advertisements: radio, television, and online marketing.

• Media: Film, television, streaming platforms, broadcasts

• Corporate Use: Presentations, websites, promotions

• Podcasts: self-hosted or distributed on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc. for more than 500k subscribers

• Music releases: albums & singles distributed on Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, etc. (for more than xxxxx)

• Apps/Games: For projects with more than 1 million downloads.

• Theatrical/Live Performance: for audiences greater than xxxx
