jazz organ piano piano medeski experimental collage collage piano piano Super fun. I especially like the "noooo!" parts near the end. Yep. All that. I can still hardly believe that it's (somewhat) over. Thanks for sharing your words! Very inventive, topical and moving. Great mix works well :) like it Ciggi vocal is great in this context Your words are a great compliment to me. I firmly believe that in music every note has its value and you have to make it reach the listener in the best possible conditions. I like that all the notes have importance within the general context of the work. That is why I have a tendency for slow times and to enjoy all, all, all the written notes. Interesting this middle in the mood. Your mix takes me back to a memory of lying on a wooden raft floating on a clear lake in the lush green mountians of New Hampshire. The sun warming my skin as I watch in a dreamlike state the ripples of water create tapestries of color. May every moment be an anniversary of realizing love. I guess I gotta look into Matthew Shipp some more. Quite an extensive discography he has. I know (and really like) the DJ Spooky disc Optometry which prominently features Matthew Shipp, but I haven't heard any of his own albums. (And I like jazz much more than anything with a DJ in front of it, generally speaking.) It took me a couple listens to appreciate your mix here, the beats being rather aggressive and the rest being rather the opposite. But I like that. And I thank you for using my samples. Nicely done! very varied fun track, a surprise round every corner [up][/up] The simplicity of your mix delivers a focus on the importance of the vocals. It's grounding, real, and raw. Vital. I like the relaxing sound track juxtaposed with important topic of climate disasters. Well done mix. Harvey as well as the other hurricanes (Katia, Irma) hit the southern part of the US where I would also geo tag the bluesy guitar play to. So this makes perfectly sense and I think there is some spirit in the guitar play that kind of says: "Life goes on". If you were to explain the idea to someone before making the remix, they might attempt to dissuade you from doing it- but it works, so thanks for plunging ahead! i'm drifting amongst the stars and galaxies at the onset of this sonic journey. and then i come closer to earth -- with rhythm, water and a glowing voice of a beautiful woman. such lovely piano work. this production is vast, inspiring, dynamic and soothing to the soul. lovely. Its terrific when you redraw the same mixter a couple of times and change perspective. Love it ogg fail -.- thanks windows I was teaching otters to play keyboards. Thanks for the remix! I'm sorry I wrote the (mvic) mwic instead. a good theme midi[up][/up] http://ccmixter.org/files/presse/28551 oh the power of that electric guitar intro!!! there are some really great little touches in this piece -- the stops, starts, stutters - that catch my ear. The far off female vox are also very cool. And I completely agree, Delay is an Instrument!! Nice track!! banging [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] Noice groove... when people ask what instrument I play, I just say high-pass filter, to their confusion :P shatter the expectations of what constitutes an instrument XD I enjoyed this trip very much. Even though I left with the feeling that someone decided to go to the sea to take its last breath. Nice Job! Thank you for this magnificent remix. This sort of track is why I love ccmixter ! It is multidimensional, not just musically but thematically. Thank you for using my stems. The juxtaposition of the troubles of my Italian friend who doesn´t have enough world and those facing Harvey who are getting too much world is very powerful. Best, Martin I like the gitar part and your placement of fooly and audio samples a lot. thank you for capturing this important, difficult moment through your track. you've given an artistic, emotional lense for processing the storms that surround us. thank you for the intelligence of the title, concept and remix. the ocean sample is perfectly placed. you've really touched something in my soul with this. perhaps we're waiting to be rescued in one way or another, and you remind us through your creativity today. Thank you very much for this anniversary gift. Interestingly in my remix today I also refer to this fact. It has been a pleasure to hear it again and again. The voice of Ciggi seems perfect and a great success. Thanks again for your effort. [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] Ohhh... I like this. Feels crisp, yet raw. And by raw, I mean full of emotion. For some reason, presented here I kept thinking Thelo sounds a bit like Frank Black of the Pixies. GREAT use of Wiseman's awesome samples! Nice countryside blues vibe with an electronic touch :) [up][/up][up][/up] Two minutes of chillicious smoove. [up][/up][up][/up] Nice one re the high pass filter [up][/up] I love the beautiful string section juxtaposed against the low space sounds in the intro, and then wow, the transition into the lounge groove is incredible! Around each turn is a new musical surprise that delights and expands the mind. The hip-hop section is very cool. And then a journey into electro jazz -- awesome! The way you bring it all back around at the end shows true production prowess. [up][/up] Catchy and FUN! I love this type of hypnotic groove with tasty bits of intrigue throughout. 🎸🎶🔥 That's a catchy little tune. At first I was wondering how to play an OGG file. Then discovered that I could just play it with my Firefox browser, heh. Nice relaxing piece. BTW I thought this percussion sample would be a nice accompaniment (as I commented in the other upload). ooh, it was a redundant suggestion from me then! lol Quirky is fun. This was fun to hear, with the melodic waves mixed in with the curious rap to create something that nonetheless fits together to make one song. thanks for the ride. I was with you the whole time ı couldn't listen it.Can you upload it as mp3. peace Thanks for remixing Book of Songs, however I couldn't listen to it either. I tried clicking on stream but that didn't work either. Looking forward to hearing it. Ah, I was able to play the ogg file by clicking on download. Nice match with the piano! (I hear a little bit of hiss on my recording...will try to re-record it some time) Would like to hear more of the backing track. thanks for mp3.very cool. peace [big]no worries[/big] [big]':0[/big]) What onlymeith does with piano is what the rest of us do with guitars, and only onlymeith has figured out to do with piano... is to deeply craft tone. He doesn't just sit down to play.... he gets good sound with all the delightful reverberations of the instrument brought out in their fullness. You're right to bring that out and make that the showcase here. This song brings together differing samples in a fitting 10th Anniversary remix. I like the way you filtered the piano sample in here. Nice and timely. Authentic [up][/up] Nice. Yan Terrien's piano loops samples are some of my favorite recent uploads and I like the chill approach you took with them. Also, very cool John Medeski sounding organ. I like how all these non-funk elements are really drawn into the groove, and given a place in the syncopation, especially that repeating one note piano run. [up][/up] Hypnotic and groovy. It's already a challenge to mix clean stems, let alone attempting to do the same with full mixdowns. I'd say this was pieced together very decently. I Like it! nice Ciggi Meith music, M [up][/up] wow - that´s realy fast Sweet... recursive music. I guess fugues are fractals. Bach would appreciate. "Godel, Escher, Bach" is a good read on the subject. My Ears Insist They Hear Mostly Everything Is Tight Here Maybe Even Including The HipHop ;) The piano solo is wonderful and I can't help myself. Impossible for me not to think about the Art of Noise piano version of "Moments in Love" - and with that in mind it makes perfectly sense to have Moira (Ciggy) in here. Missing her as well. I really like what you've done. Given what you've written, I appreciate your effort much more. [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] Funky fun in minimalism. I like. Hey :-) you revealed your secret a day early. Nonetheless I like the switches this takes. I like the jazzy parts best. Sounds like good retro jazz rock fusion to me, mwic [up][/up][up][/up] No one should be frightened ':0) Fantastic, love the pitched up rapping. Thanks for using my drums (with a nod to Reaktorplayer) , everything fits together nicely and I'm rather tempted to fit this to my own song in a 12" extended mix. Enjoyable listen, keep up the good work!! Like the Weird Al flavor, mwic An attractive combination of sound, and a high quality of sound. Nice. Hey how about a separate upload of your art rap 'pella? Pretty cool.
Um .. I can get to that in about negative-two years: http://ccmixter.org/files/mwic/31225
Ah. Cool, thanks. Ha! Cool! I like how my lil' uke track works with your rap. Always fun to be paired with SAW, too. Thanks a ton![up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] I like the way the various vocal samples mingle in and add body to the mix. your linguistic technique is fantastic reminds me of Steam Powered Giraffe Rihannas'Diamonds cover makes me laugh :-) Love the chords here, really works well. Thank you for a superb little effort! So clever. Great arrangement and production. Vocal edits are brilliant! Thanks for including me :) was laughing all the way. sounds like B52 meets?...great hears and good ideas man. I like this site, so much to listen.Great job David Lynch next soundtrack, Wacky stuff. clever use of the lyric- great stuff! Seriously, stuff like this *can* make the charts (flat beat anyone:) - after more listening it's a grower Really powerful mix. Good for keeping fully awake. headphone candy indeed! you're a linux user? ;) rockin' dude. i dig. [up][/up] thanx for the mix :) you have made a sort of femme fatale proto grunge from my twee curiosity. Smack that drum line in... nicely done ! Stunning remix with lots of interesting stuff going on. Fantastic vocal by Snowflake. Thanks for including me -- kudos! [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] Cool beats, cool sounds. Thnx for including my guitar. Kudos! [up][/up][up][/up] Firefly is one of the only shows I've liked in a longtime. This is so deeply lovely. Intricate, ambient, provoking. Well developed and polished. Changes themes and tempos like an episode. I'm honored to be included. [up][/up]
Cool beats, cool sounds. Thnx for including my guitar. Kudos!
emotion shared !:) Cool progression. Totally engaging. Great sound quality. Yes, a very satisfying listen. (Should probably put My Free Mickey in the featuring list as the mix you used from me is made entirely of his sounds.) Firefly is fantastic! Just re-watched over the xmas break. Dig the arrangement. Javo's guitar is mighty tasty and you highlight it splendidly. Thanks for including me. LovePiano The slicing and dicing really works here. It's a darn good song. Wow. Very nice knife work on the slices and I love how it fits together melodically. I could even hear some deeper tones I might try to build on in the future. Nicely done. I have great admiration for your process, where you seemingly incorporate sound into sonic paint. I was captured from the beginning and then that first piano breakdown ripped me open and tears began to flow. Finally, after holding it all in your art broke the dam. (is that you whispering? powerful) Thank you for your creativity and for giving your talent to us all. [up][/up] Cute Creative, too excellent subaudibles. . . very soothing! [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] the beautiful power of drones.... Nice. I had no idea you know Robert-the-person (not just Gurdonark the artist)! I met him several years ago in Texas. He's a wonderful human. I will definitely use this in my daily meditations. Whilst listening, I can already feel my inner vibration calming, rising, lifting. Truly beautiful. Thank you. beautiful. Ahhhh. The bubbly shuddery bits thankfully aren't overwhelming, but nice contrast accents to the peaceful softness underneath Eyes closed for a video? Works for me!!! We planted milkweed in our backyard a few years ago. We planted it to aid the Monarch butterflies in migration. Two years ago, the caterpillars appeared in November. Last year, they appeared in October. This year, I saw a single monarch butterfly perched on the milkweed, which made a gorgeous bloom in numerous tall stalks. The butterfly flitted away. But rather than new caterpillars, we got weeks of rain and weeks of cold. No caterpillars appeared, and now the leaves are in ruins. Here you've brought the caterpillars to life. I was touched that you took the extra effort to edit my photos along with your video into a musical soundtrack. I liked the things you did with my sounds to create something very individual and meditative. Good job! We should get together sometime once more and make music. This is great! Outer body experiences come easily within the headphones of eyes closed. Great for dreamy imaginings! We too added milkweed to our garden a few years ago. We brought one caterpillar in this season to live to adulthood under our careful supervision, but others did find their way to our plants. There was a tropical variety that will not survive the winter that really attracted them. We will plant seeds of that variety next year. But I have to tell you the most monarchs I saw this year were on some dahlias at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square PA in October. There was a large area of dahlias and they was a cloud of monarchs flying around them, landing and feeding. My guess is that this was a migration pit stop and not a life cycle kind of thing, but I would highly recommend planting some dahlias. They are tubers, I believe, so if it gets cold where you are, they will have to be dug up for the winter, but I know I will be lobbying hard to get them into our garden. Sorry, fellow mixters but this is important information! We also had the weeks of rain and cold. It was a horrific growing season this year. Very nice. I am interested in developing some of my own meditation soundtracks and there are some good ideas in here. Unfortunately my ancient computer is buffering on playback so I don't think I've gotten the full effect just yet. I also think it's cool you know our weirdbiant, nature- watching man of legal letters irl. He's either the quickest bird photographer in the world or the most patient one, but his music and commentary are always fun and enlightening. Which HHDL books are you reading? I have two on my shelf right in front of me now, and I've read a handful of others. The interview book of him and Archbishop Desmond Tutu is wonderful :-). Intreguing and subtile. Never learn mastering - this sounds crazy cool. And I followed your recommendation and listened with headphones on. I like the offbeats and accentuated disharmonics a lot. My fav remix so far among the secret mixter 2018. Also, I am relieved that I am not the only one who dismissed the christmas theme completely ;-) Listening in headphones and digging it! I'm guessing Xena the Warrior Princess is Kissing Medea in Atlantis? I can imagine some sort of winter underground encounter. I love the way you combined and placed all of the melodies and rhythms. Sounds perfect to me! Sure have missed you guys in these Secret Mixters!! We miss participating, Emily. Our availability has been limited, so we've shied away from commitments requiring love and attention on a schedule. We plan to rejoin the secret grooves as soon as practical. You did very well with the piano [up][/up] Fantastic house-modern-pop-garage montage. Love the treatment of Yan Terrien's Piano Loops and thanks for the intro! YES! What a funky, hypnotic mix! You've framed Yan's experimental piano very well! Highly enjoyable! thank you for your honesty. i really appreciate it. clever and cathartic. Perhaps some old, slumbering conflict of interest raised its head. Remix still kicked butt, tho' Glad you're back. . . . any chance of some new guitar stuff? Would love to hear what you've been up to. . . [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] A humorous little experimental studio jam session. I like it. Lol....I was all curious what this will end up with. funny stuff mwic. I like flash fiction. I think it's fun sometimes to jam in 96 second increments like this. i sit in the back of the venue, watching the band and DJ warm up, finding groove together. i love the way this track transitions from a "live" feel to DJ jam -- i want more!!! Not too fast, not too slow, a little bit more a little bit less...time is what makes friendships what they are...creatively dancing into the unknown. Always surprises me what people come up with. Also: there's not too much story about my realations with ccMixter. I joined when it was brand new as one of the very first music collab sites and nobody could say how the CC license thing would work out. Haven't been here for a while since the projects' focus and mine seemed to go seperate ways but really liked the secret remix *and* the task I got assigned. Unluckily, other biz just would not allow me to find the time to contribute anything adequate. :( Next time better luck, I hope. Cheers everyone... Very fun mix! Made me smile. Respectful and relaxed treatment of the original. If Constance only knew. [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up]+ My Russian lit class was one of my favorite at university, and certainly one that was the most life changing. Please thank Sarah Elizabeth and her grandmother for me, for without Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Bulgakov and more, I'd be far less of a person. Beautiful mix!! [up][/up] Love the lounge feel. Soft red velvet Really nice chill. Completely dugged. Thanks for the mix. thanks for the story and the music Propulsive and energetic, and the spoken word fits with its very well. Groove is definitely the right tag for this one. this is kind of cool. And oh a Cat was missing today. Much enjoyed, a very fine groove indeed, and great text. I went back to replay immediately. [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up]++ Nice slice and dice mwic! A glichy and fun listen. I often feel like this when I wake up. As Samuel Clemens once said, "Man is the only animal that blushes- or needs to." Love the Residents/Claypool flavor of the lyrics and delivery.[up][/up] BTW, please feel free to upload any other audio you've got lying around gathering dust ;) Heh, guess I'm not the only one who wonders about the "conversion of Saul" after being struck on the road to Damascus. Terribly clever lyrics that get the mind spinning, twirling to the rhythm and getting lost in the underground. The acoustic loop is particularly awesome. [up][/up] So this line: I’m not sexy enough for my shirt. HAHAHAHA! So funny. Actually, the whole thing is... and your deadpan delivery is freakin' great. RIGHT ON! [blue]dont worry Im relying on my body now...its funny hope its pain free I only have whats legal and open in my State.[/blue] This is beautiful and the idea behind it is pretty interesting we seek difference to use or draw on? human nature or matrix "head games" like were Foreigner! I liked that track!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6N66I9mcG0 " A secret Mixter party ?? ".. sounds like a meeting of the musical Illuminati... lol Sweet track! Never heard of the term 'art rap' before, but it certainly is worth looking into. Nicely done! Hi mwic, Great track energy. Liked what you did and loved being a part of your creative music. Rewob [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] Art Rap. You're right, a lot of what happens here falls into that sub-genre. Thanks for the edumacation! Thank you for highlighting and educating me about Art Rap! Don't ever remember the term, but now it is foremost in my consciousness. You execute this genre in top form. (And I looked up Snowflake Lake, not at all what I thought it would be, but somehow I gotta find a play on that....) Cool track. [up][/up] Blistering track. Excellent rap -- impressed with the flow. Art rap. . . gonna follow up on that. Thanks for the inspiration! GREAT FLOW! Art rap Im a fan :) great track. . . [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up]+ This is fresh. This is dope. If Carl from Sling Blade made a hip hop record, would he be rapping about taking people to Snowflake Lake, I wonder? Lots of imagery, there. :) Dude, you're spitting fire! Well done. "drink a dance and do a little wishwaterfall thinking" Nice... [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up][red]+++[/red] DUDE! As soon as I saw you remixed me, I started to smile. I love this. I love your fast freestyling verses. I love how found ways to incorporate elements from the different tracks. I also love that Ben is the name of one of your kids. Very good choice one your part. [up][/up][up][/up] Very well done, friend. Thanks for taking the time to make this. This is really fun. Excellent work and what a great idea to take this road. Sounds really like this has been a fun project. I enjoyed this--it gave me a chuckle. Thanks for sharing it. Wonderful monkeying around![up][/up] Bounces along beautifully [up][/up][up][/up]fab! this is brilliant! so incredibly creative in concept and brilliantly executed. the reggae groove juxtaposed with the lyrics and acutriment sounds just pulled me deeper and deeper. true art. Nice to hear some humour :) Wonderful delivery [up][/up] I like the unpolished feel of your mix. It makes me feel like I'm right there. Like a home video. [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] Fun! [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] Funny! your spokes in the wheels are appreciated for their great creativity! i read your message aloud to hubby last night, and yes, it made me cry. thank you for reminding me why I do this, and thank you for your well wishes! It's good for beginning but after you lose Not or it's crazy song , also so good man!!🌈🚧 I enjoyed so much lyrics, music and arrangment. I really don't know what to ask more!! oooo thank you for the rhythm mix -- 5/4 time is a goal for me :) how cool that you two remixed each other! i love it when that happens with the random generator. digging this oh so very cool remix. and no, I'm not afraid. [up][/up] There's soemthing of The Avengers happening inside of this, maybe it's the Vibes . We need Emma Peel in her leather outfit to go with this but I could say that about everything :) Yes! This is so much fun!!! Bravo. I like the polyrhythmic percussion and the sense I have of an unexpected fusion of the Art of Noise and the Residents. I've seen the Residents twice in concert, and each time was fascinating. I remember the first album I bought by them decades ago. It was something different. The Residents are a big influence for me, though my music sounds nothing like them. excellent. i like A minor. Ah ah, you really made my day, man! What about our new cd? :-D Very cool. And inspiringly creative. [up][/up] So much going on! Top mix Diggn the 5/4 [up][/up] You draw much out of Just cruising, but I hear a curated mix here. You additions fit well and, between you two, production is top notch. Thanks for this great mix! It’s always wonderful hearing snippets of music that you’re very familiar with reimagined in a brand new context 😀 Love it. I dig the simplicity, leaves room for melodic and lyrical imagination while I listen. Great bass line! I love the development and addition of new instruments in each section. I can only add a + to what Carosone wrote. I like it pretty much. The simplicity is intriguing. Nice groove. Much enjoyed. Thanks for mixing my beat, respect 😊 fantastic! thanks for adding the guitar and including the sample it works really well, I’ll need to read up about cosines etc. sounds interesting Over the years I have been involved with music from the tapping of a foot to 100 piece orchestras and it all has its place. One thing I have learnt is that good music is always about the feeling it gives not the quantity of the instruments it employs. This is a wonderful example of this. Two minutes of great sounds and emotion[up][/up] Gorgeous Atmospheric, nice![up][/up][up][/up] I love picturing this created with sonic paint... beautiful metaphor, beautiful mix. The movement in this piece creates an artistic journey... lovely. wildly disonant sonic painting in the distinct shade of blue - Pantone 292. creative! The electro kick does a great job against the other sounds. Personally I would have kept it pounding throughout the mix as the pauses tend to reduce the hypnotic blend you have created. But that's just me😁[up][/up] Ed Picked :) beautiful, and i dig the title in response :) Thank you for the kind words! There's a lot going on in Distractions, but I do love that accordion. There's a lot going on in the remix too, nice one! [up][/up] hearing the spirit of Ian Curtis here for sure! an intricate collage of meters and sounds blended into parallel rhythms -- all combined together with detailed vision and wisdom. [up][/up] This is a really cool arrangement. It totally swings. The heavy bass is a great setting for Thelo's voice. Bravo! A pretty unified blend of some pretty disparate musical offerings. The magic of a secret Mixter especially is taking things that don’t sound like they fit and making them a cohesive whole. The theramin and organ bits don’t sound like they’d fit over a funky backdrop - but you have them sounding organically so here. What Admiral Bob said! A seamless merging of source material to make a groovy bit of sonic treat. Bravo! Hey that bass works really well, very groovy, had me nodding and bobbing along in my chair. Funky hop that reminds me of pixelated whales breakdancing. [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] wow mwic! this is a fantastic mix!! each sound has its perfectly carved place in the stereo field. the groove ebbs and flows like the waves upon which the whales rise to the surface. this mix is a sonic story of inspiration!!! and many thanks for the brilliant stems.[up][/up] Infectious! Groovy! [up][/up][up][/up][up][/up] Just a perfect blend of jazz and space age synthbient, great choices for the sample selection :) [up][/up][up][/up] Super fun track, instantly inspired to remix :) [up][/up][up][/up] I second Apoxode, fun and inspiring. [up][/up] Sweet vibe, great share. [up][/up] Very open for blending, and spiritually soothing on its own. Awesome work, thank you mwic :) [up][/up][up][/up] Sounds pretty clean to me (not murky) plus I'm a big fan of genre collisions so, yeah, [up][/up]. Relaxing and upbeat jazz meditation. Some ideas would be to start dulling the high end of the cymbals sooner (it seems to get there on its own by 1:20 from the blend) and also lowering the presence of the horn to match the piano (through a 1:1 or greater ratio of wet/dry room reverb) A soft high toned pad/drone (similar to the one you're already using) might give it some more shine. The only thing that feels slightly murky is the snare hit, maybe adding a soft rimshot to each one might give some clarity. Hope this helps :) [up][/up][up][/up]
