Eric Idle on steroids!!
Great sounds to go with the early morning coffee in sunny London.

very funny :) I like the fact that you never know what you are going here on this site airtone Reply 2023-06-17 01:46:48
Feels like I've been roasted by Rhys Darby. I'm conflicted. It's unkind and deeply unsympathetic, with an air of superiority (congratulations on all your happy dreams) and... very very funny. Irreverence being probably my favorite form of comedy, I laughed throughout. (But there's a weird aftertaste.) Speck Reply 2023-06-17 05:20:12
I think the production decisions work and they remind me to play around more with "live" sounds and ambient noises. I'm also looking forward to hearing how Speck approaches taking the piss out of Loveshadow (as mates do). Ben Blohowiak Reply 2023-06-17 08:27:13
@speck. Well it's not meant to be unkind and
have no problem if you want it deleted.
Nor is it meant to be superior. I can assure as you will not have listened that my vocals have been placed into mixes many times that might warrant
your comments here . I have been mangled on many uploaded songs that have deeply personal lyrics but such is the nature of a remix.

My vote would be for Speck to repay you with a skewering and/or barbecuing of "The Majestic Swan" .. but I'm kind of an iconoclast that way. mwic Reply 2023-06-17 14:40:38
Despite the superb production and performance, there is something unsettling about what could be perceived as "punching down," particularly for an event that celebrates dreaming and the dreams that people have.
Would it be worthwhile to tone down some of the responses within the verses and maybe even recast the theme as more of a partnership? Apoxode Reply 2023-06-19 11:27:05

"I have been mangled on many uploaded songs that have deeply personal lyrics"
Well, there's mangled and then there's direct insults.

It felt unkind, or perhaps more accurately, insensitive (I am perhaps overly sensitive). But I really did laugh throughout (and it really was a weird experience). I do not want you to take it down. It is hilarious and really well done and the point of it - enough with the whinging already - is one I can certainly appreciate.
I think, after having time to lick my wounds, that my biggest takeaway is - omg, have I done that to others? I have, though less directly/personally. https://ccmixter.org/files/speck/59793 comes to mind. So yeah - interesting experience. I hope I've learned something from it. Speck Reply 2023-06-28 07:37:14
Pretty interesting discussion. I think Loveshadow's track plays with the importance of context.
Speck's track is (like most of his tracks) High Art. It belongs in musical museums. Picturing it being performed at (or piped into) a pub yields good comedy.
If anything, it's the Eric Idlish heckler who's being insulted here... just my 2 pence. mwic Reply 2023-07-07 15:47:32
